Cobb Co. sheriff, chief deputy involved in accident on I-75

Cobb County’s sheriff and his chief deputy were involved in a multi-vehicle crash on I-75 southbound on Wednesday, officials said.

The wreck happened shortly after 2 p.m.  According to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Franka Young, Sheriff Neil Warren and Chief Deputy Milton Beck were in the HOV lane on I-75 near Northside Drive in Fulton County when they were struck by a truck pulling a trailer.

Warren and Beck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, officials said.

The condition of the driver of the truck was not known.

Traffic was impacted after several lanes were closed.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
